Tudor watches with Dion Horstmans for D'Marge

November 15, 2015

Stylish, salty sea-dog Dion chills out on a 1 million dollars plus boat in an assortment of seaside fashion looks. Tudor make beautiful masculine watches and the Pelagos is no exception.

The perfect watch for the marine adventurist, that looks good in all casual settings. Dion is a rather handy (International Sculpture) man with the tools, but style is always evident. Check out the behind the scenes shots and see me actually work! All shots courtesy of D'Marge, the ultimate online destination for magnificent bastards. Runabout courtesy of Whitehaven.

Clothing by Country Road, Annex Bondi, Jac & Jack and wetsuit by Learn to Surf Bondi. Let me know your thought, I'd love to hear from you.

Stay stylish,

JL

Australian Fashion Walk of Style 2015 Party

November 12, 2015

The Australian Fashion Chamber put on a fantastic function to honour some of the Australian Fashion Industries best in a formal and private setting. Theo Onisforou (long time owner of The Intersection) opened his lovely waterfront home to a bevy of fashion industry experts. The Intersection is the last of the quality fashion precinct that once was the countries best shopping destination. Some of my favourite suppliers have been in this area for some time now.

Designers, journalists, bloggers, stylists, PR's, retailers and their partners enjoyed a very special midweek party. Mike Dotch kept the ambience on point, canapés to die for and endless bubbles kept the experience rich crowd happy and satiated. Simon Lock was an apt master of ceremonies and did a lovely job of interviewing the latest three 'Walk of Style' inductees. Leona Edmiston, Robby Ingham and Gary Theodore all gave stirring speeches about the journey and their experience and passion for the industry. Exciting times lay ahead for the Paddington Fashion Precinct and there was much chat about past, present and future developments.

I had the pleasure of rubbing shoulders with Glynis Trail-Nash, Kate Waterhouse, Christine Centenera, Wayne Cooper, Josh Goot and Romance Was Born. So much experience and success in one room. Not your typical fashion event, instead a warm, friendly and respectful atmosphere permeated the room.

Do yourself a for and go for a stroll around the quality assortment of fashion stores in The Intersection on the corner of Oxford and Glenmore road, you won't be disappointed.

Stay stylish,

JL

The Race that stops a Nation

November 10, 2015

The jewel in the Spring racing crown is Melbourne Cup. The first Tuesday of November will be the most stylish gathering of men in Australia each and every year.

This is the most stylish you will dress outside of your wedding day. As you pore through this select group of images from this day last week, see if you can spot some inspiration for your own personal style. I firmly believe that gentlemen this year really stepped up to the plate and knocked fashion out of the park.

Melbourne Cup Carnival is the most flamboyant style driven costume party of the year. Even though green is the colour of the season, there were loads of other rich juicy and vivid colours on display. Blue, red, rust, green, pink and yellow were balanced out by earth tones and traditional navy. Watches, bracelets, suspenders, ties, bow ties, lapel pins, hats, sunglasses, fun socks and pocket squares all dominate in the 'pea cocking of personal style' that requires such accessories in Racing ensembles.

I would love to hear from you, so let me know which outfits grabbed your attention most.

Stay stylish,

JL

Spring Racing Accessories

November 8, 2015

By far and away the biggest accessory trend to come to light this racing season is the lapel pin. As you can see in the image above the lapel pin can be tonal and quite discreet. Alternatively, your lapel pin can be the most flamboyant eye catching piece of styling in your ensemble.

A bright colour can bring the entire look together in such a simple manner. I have been sporting these little gems for the past couple of seasons and love them as another cool way of expressing yourself through your personal style. Throughout the racing season this Spring the race day flower is often the go-to choice for your lapel. Gentlemen that have their individual flair on display may opt for a synthetic lapel flower (like the one shown) as the colour of the race day flower may clash.

I highly recommend you give a lapel pin a shot when you next sport your blazer, even if its a casual outfit. For a change to the lapel flower, try a silk butterfly or metallic pin to create a signature look that's uniquely you.

Happy accessorising,

JL
